Audrey Hepburn spent the war as a child in occupied Holland, malnourished and running messages for the resistance, then trained as a ballet dancer before winning an Academy Award for her first major film. Roman Holiday, Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany's made her a defining screen presence. She largely stopped acting in her forties and spent her last years as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, working in Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia.
